Enhancing health care for the Greater San Jose Area
In December 2024, construction started on the new hospital, which will be 650,000 square feet with space to accommodate more than 300 patients in private rooms. A new parking structure will also be built to increase the available parking on campus. The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2029.

If laid out end-to-end, the steel beams would stretch approximately 9 miles – the distance across the Bay Bridge and back.
9,578 tons of steel in the hospital structure
This amount of steel equals the combined weight of 1,596 adult elephants.
46,000 cubic yards of concrete
The hospital pour could fill roughly 14 Olympic-sized swimming pools
762,959 pounds of sheet metal in the hospital
This much sheet metal, could make approximately 50,000 sheet metal panels (15 pounds each), enough to cover a surface area equivalent to nearly 8 football fields
