Dr. Ryo Shohara, MD, practices medical oncology at Northwest Permanente in Portland, Oregon. In his role as the regional lead for gastrointestinal cancers, he provides oversight and support for the cancer genetics program in Kaiser Permanente’s Northwest region.
As a Bay Area native, he attended Stanford University for his undergraduate degree, majoring in human biology. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed residency in internal medicine at Cornell University and fellowship for hematology and oncology at Columbia University, both based in New York City. Dr. Shohara also earned a Genomic Cancer Risk Assessment Quality Practice Certificate through the City of Hope — a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Southern California
