Dr. Anna Satake is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis. She leads the Caregiving Consultation service at the Healthy Aging Clinic. Additionally, she leads and participates in research related to older adults with dementia and family caregiving. She collaborates with UC Davis leaders of the Healthy Aging Initiative, in educating the workforce and improving care for older adults.
Before joining the School of Nursing, Dr. Satake worked in multiple acute care medical centers throughout northern California over the last two decades. Most of her work has been as a Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist where she provided geriatric consultation. She also has led projects and provided education across disciplines on topics related to dementia, delirium, potentially inappropriate medications for older adults, behavior management in dementia, restraints, sitter usage, and fall prevention. She is experienced in leading or collaborating on the implementation of system-wide programs such as Primary Stroke Certification, NICHE, Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation, and IHI Age-Friendly programs.
She has presented on geriatric topics at several state and national conferences, including the American Delirium Society, CALNOC, NICHE, GAPNA, Peri Anesthesia Nurses Association of California, California Clinical Nurse Specialist, and the Gerontological Society of America.
Dr. Satake’s interests include preparing nurses and providers to ensure compassionate and evidence-based care of older adults and their caregivers. She wants to empower clinicians to be advocates for older adults and to improve care across the continuum.
