Rashmi Menon, MD, is the regional chief of Hematology and Oncology for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group and a longtime advocate for compassionate, patient-centered cancer care. Throughout her career, she has focused on improving the patient care experience — especially during the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
Dr. Menon has led efforts to make cancer treatment safer, more coordinated, and easier to navigate, including creating systems that support patients taking oral cancer therapies and ensure timely follow-up and monitoring. Her work has helped patients receive the right treatment at the right time, while reducing stress and uncertainty during care.
She also spearheaded the “No Sleepless Nights” initiative, a program designed to minimize delays in cancer diagnosis and treatment through improved communication and teamwork across care teams. The goal is simple: fewer unanswered questions, fewer anxious nights, and more confidence for patients and families.
Dr. Menon’s leadership is guided by a deep commitment to equity, partnership with patients, and continuous improvement in cancer care. She believes that listening to survivors — and learning from their experiences — is essential to building systems that truly support healing, dignity, and hope.
Dr. Menon completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University in New York before moving to California to attend medical school at UCLA. She completed her internal medicine residency at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology through the City of Hope/Harbor–UCLA combined program.
